Who made the white wedding gown fashionable?

c. Queen Victoria - When England's Queen Victoria married Prince Albert in 1840, she wore white from head to toe. Before her, most royal brides wore heavily brocaded gowns in a variety of colors (except green, which implied loose morals). Victoria started a trend that survives among brides to this day.
